Eligible Livestock
Feeder cattle including steers, heifers, young feeder bulls — no breeding bulls — and cows fed in dry lot.
Loan Details
Minimum loan amount is $5,000. Maximum up to $1,000,000 per yard, with larger loans possible upon joint approval.
Term
Loan term is 365 days, with no early payout penalties.
Program Particulars
- $200 lifetime non-refundable membership fee.
- $12 per head administration charges.
- One-time setup fee of $125 for Security Agreement registration.
- All financed cattle carry the Foothills Livestock Co-op brand.
- Must own land or have a co-applicant that does.
- Floating interest rate: CIBC Prime Rate plus 0.5%.
- A 10% pooled security deposit is required.
Branding, Protection & Sale
- All feeder cattle must be branded with the Foothills brand.
- Private treaty sales require a Certified Brand Inspection payable by the Member before branding.
- Mandatory Full Protection Mortality applies.
- Premium is 1% of loan; deductible will apply.
- Feeder cattle must be manifested to Foothills Livestock Co-op on account of the member.
- Notice should be given before selling cattle.
Custom Feedlot Agreement
If cattle are being fed in a custom feedlot, the member signs a Feedlot Agreement Waiver with the feedlot owner. The form can be obtained from the Foothills Livestock Co-op office.
